(hereinafter referred to as Aolong Bio).
This conference, themed “Co‑building Channels, Sharing Growth,” focused on the pressing challenges of disease prevention and the emerging market opportunities in the high‑quality development of the sheep industry. It welcomed Professor Yang Zengqi from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Northwest A&F University and Associate Researcher Hao Huafang from the Lanzhou Institute of Veterinary Research, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, who provided on‑site guidance. Attending were Fu Gang, General Manager of Aolong Bio, along with Deputy General Managers Ran Zhiguang, Peng Zhi, and Liu Xin; Technical Service Director He Qiao; and heads of quality control, R&D, production technology, and other relevant departments. Together with nearly 60 representatives of sheep vaccine distributors from across the country, they explored new pathways for scientific innovation in sheep vaccines and synergistic market development, jointly forging a new model of channel empowerment and win‑win collaboration, thereby injecting strong momentum into the steady growth and sustained momentum of the veterinary vaccine industry.
▲ Fu Gang, General Manager of Aolong Bio, delivered a welcoming address and presented a keynote report titled “Current Status and Strategic Plan for Company Development.”
At the conference, Fu Gang, General Manager of Aolong Bio, delivered a keynote address. He stated that, amid the current landscape of both opportunities and challenges in the sheep vaccine market and intensifying industry competition, manufacturers and their partners must forge a close, “back-to-back” alliance. He emphasized that what end‑users now demand is no longer merely the vaccine product itself, but rather a comprehensive solution—spanning immunization protocols and operational guidelines, as well as disease diagnosis and post‑sales follow‑up. In response, Aolong Bio has established a dedicated technical service team and collaborated with research institutes to tackle key challenges, striving to efficiently transform “product strength” into “service excellence” and provide robust support for frontline disease prevention efforts. Moving forward, Aolong Bio will continue to serve as a reliable partner to its distributors, focusing on deepening channel development and expanding direct‑supply operations. The company will remain committed to driving continuous product and service improvements based on market feedback, leveraging the complementary strengths of its extensive network of distributors. Together, they will work to deepen and broaden their presence in the sheep vaccine market, advancing toward high‑quality growth in the veterinary vaccine industry under the strategic vision of “unity, alignment, and collaboration,” and achieving mutual benefit and win‑win outcomes.
Subsequently, Fu Gang delivered a keynote report on the company’s current development status and strategic plan. He stated that Aolong Bio has been deeply engaged in the ruminant vaccine sector—covering cattle, sheep, and other ruminants—for nearly two decades, consistently prioritizing independent innovation as its core driving force. The company has now established a comprehensive production chain encompassing live vaccines, inactivated vaccines, quality‑control and R&D facilities, and an experimental animal center, with an annual vaccine production capacity of 1.5 billion doses and more than 60 patented technologies. Notably, its recombinant subunit vaccine for ovine cystic echinococcosis, designated as a Class I new veterinary drug at the national level, represents a world‑first and remains the only such product in China, playing a pivotal role in the country’s efforts to control echinococcosis and promote high‑quality development of the livestock industry.
Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Aolong Bio will continue to strengthen industry–university–research collaboration and product innovation, enhance its service capabilities, and, while consolidating its domestic market, comprehensively accelerate its international expansion under the Belt and Road Initiative, working hand in hand with distribution partners to seize global market opportunities.
▲ Professor Yang Zengqi of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Northwest A&F University delivered a keynote report titled “The Complexity of Respiratory Pathogen Infections in Sheep and Their Prevention and Control Practices.”
At the conference, Professor Yang Zengqi of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Northwest A&F University delivered a keynote address titled “The Complexity of Respiratory Pathogen Infections in Sheep and Their Control Practices.” Drawing on an analysis of viral and bacterial infectious diseases in sheep from 2018 to 2025, Professor Yang noted that contemporary ovine respiratory diseases are characterized by pronounced secondary and mixed infections. Mycoplasma and lung adenocarcinoma virus typically serve as primary initiating agents, while bacteria such as Pasteurella, Streptococcus, and Escherichia coli act as secondary or mixed pathogens. He emphasized that relying solely on clinical signs can easily lead to misdiagnosis and delay timely treatment.
Furthermore, in addressing diagnostic challenges, Professor Yang specifically cautioned that many cases currently classified as suspected Mycoplasma ovine pneumonia (hereafter referred to as ovine thoracic disease) are, in fact, caused by emerging highly pathogenic bacteria such as Trehalose‑producing Borrelia, Riemerella anatipestifer, and Escherichia coli. He emphasized that PCR testing alone is insufficient for definitive diagnosis; it must be supplemented by pathogen isolation and identification, along with animal pathogenicity assays.
Professor Yang stated that vaccination is key to preventing and controlling ovine respiratory diseases. According to field surveys, in large-scale sheep farms and among professional farmers who have vaccinated their animals, the mortality rate is 3% to 5%, whereas in smallholder operations without vaccination, the mortality rate can soar to 30% to 50%. He urged the industry to strengthen laboratory diagnostic capabilities, while individual farmers and livestock operations should rigorously implement biosecurity measures such as adequate ventilation of housing, isolation and disinfection, and timely vaccination. Furthermore, they should integrate sound medication practices with proper management protocols to comprehensively enhance their capacity for the integrated prevention and control of ovine respiratory diseases.
▲ Hao Huafang, an associate researcher at the Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, delivered a keynote report titled “The Harm Caused by Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae and the Application of Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae Vaccines.”
At the conference, Hao Huafang, an associate researcher at the Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, delivered a keynote presentation titled “The Harm Caused by Mycoplasma ovium and the Application of Mycoplasma ovium Vaccines.” She emphasized that mycoplasma pneumonia in sheep is not a sporadic, isolated local issue, but rather a persistent, intractable disease prevalent in large-scale sheep farms, resulting in annual economic losses exceeding RMB 20 billion and ranking first among sheep respiratory diseases.
Hao Huafang explained that currently, the majority of mycoplasma vaccines available in China are inactivated vaccines. She highlighted “Aochuankang”—an inactivated vaccine for mycoplasma pneumonia in goats and sheep, formulated with the MoGH3-3 and M87-1 strains—which provides simultaneous protection against mycoplasma pneumonia in both species. Thanks to its unique “one‑dose, dual‑protection” feature, it has become the preferred choice for disease prevention in regions where goats and sheep are raised together. She also emphasized that effective disease control cannot rely solely on vaccination; rather, it requires a comprehensive preventive strategy encompassing quarantine and isolation, proper husbandry and management, disinfection, surveillance and culling, pharmacological prophylaxis, and standardized immunization. Moreover, the approach to disease prevention should shift from reactive “firefighting” after an outbreak to proactive, integrated management that combines routine immunization with robust biosecurity measures.
At the conclusion of the report, Hao Huafang also shared an encouraging research advance: her team is currently developing a novel genetic-engineered subunit vaccine for contagious pleuropneumonia in goats. Preliminary trials indicate that the single‑component subunit vaccine elicits robust immune protection—resulting in 100% survival—and induces the mildest pulmonary lesions, thereby offering a new technological avenue for the prevention and control of respiratory diseases in sheep.
▲ Peng Zhi, Deputy General Manager of Aolong Bio, delivered a keynote report titled “Aolong Bio’s Flagship Sheep Vaccines and Product Portfolio.”
At the conference, Peng Zhi, Deputy General Manager of Aolong Bio, delivered a keynote presentation titled “Aolong Bio’s Flagship Sheep Vaccines and Product Portfolio.” Drawing on statistical data on changes in national sheep inventory and slaughter capacity from 2021 to 2025, Peng Zhi analyzed that, amid a new industry cycle characterized by intensifying competition for existing market share and ongoing capacity reductions, the sheep sector has entered a phase of high‑quality development. Given the high proportion of small and medium‑sized individual farmers and the significant stress and risk of missed vaccinations inherent in traditional multi‑dose immunization protocols, meeting the farming community’s demand for premium vaccines that reduce stress, lower costs, and provide multiple protections with a single injection has become the key to breaking the current impasse.
Peng Zhi systematically outlined Aolong Bio’s “1+1+1+7” innovative market model: designating a specific region, partnering with a core distributor, assigning a dedicated business manager, and cultivating seven local benchmark customers. By leveraging the demonstration effect of these benchmarks, the model extends its reach to a broad base of individual retailers, effectively bridging the “last mile” of market implementation.
In terms of the product portfolio, he highlighted the company’s core Orange‑Cap series, which includes products such as Aochuankang, Aochuanjie, Aolianjing, and Yangwenqing. He emphasized that these products are all developed under a “one‑injection, multiple‑protections” technological platform, aiming to maximize efficiency by reducing the frequency of vaccinations. Additionally, he revealed that several sheep‑specific vaccine candidates currently in development are progressing rapidly and will soon be launched to serve customers. Peng Zhi stated that, going forward, Aolong Bio will continue to refine its comprehensive technical service system, further expand its sheep vaccine portfolio, and work hand in hand with distributors to seize industry opportunities and jointly usher in a new era for the sheep vaccine market.
Only by standing together and moving forward in unison can we build lasting momentum; only through mutual benefit and win‑win cooperation can we achieve steady progress and long‑term success. This conference is not merely an industry‑wide event for collaborative development—it is also a strategic gathering that fosters consensus and ushers in a new chapter. Guided by the vision of “ecological symbiosis,” Aolong Bio will strengthen its confidence in growth alongside its broad network of distributors, continue to empower its distribution channels, and, with more efficient immunization solutions and higher‑quality services, jointly unlock the vast potential of the sheep vaccine market, share in our collective growth, and work together to establish a robust defense for the safety and well‑being of livestock.
