Sheep echinococcosis vaccine spread good news in the snow-covered plateau

From September 7 to 8, 2017, an on-site meeting on the prevention and control of hydatid disease in livestock in Tibet was held in Shannan City. Leaders attending the meeting were Qiangbaquzha, deputy director of the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department of the autonomous region, Suolang Ciren, director of the Veterinary Bureau, Zhaxi Jiacuo, deputy mayor of the Shannan Municipal People's Government, Sang Dan Robu, deputy secretary general, Suolang Gesang, secretary of the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bureau, and He Hua, director of the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bureau. Participants in the meeting were the directors in charge of the agriculture and animal husbandry bureaus of seven cities (prefectures), the chief of the veterinary department, the heads of the animal disease prevention and control center and the animal health supervision office, and more than 150 heads of the agriculture and animal husbandry bureaus of 74 counties (districts).

Suolang Tsering, director of the Veterinary Bureau of the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of the Tibet Autonomous Region, introduced at the meeting that as of now, 1.8435 million newborn lambs have been immunized in Tibet. The latest test data show that the average immune antibody pass rate of livestock hydatid disease in the region is 84.37. The highest level of immunity to various animal diseases in the history of our region.

The Tibet Autonomous Region has done a solid job in the prevention and control of hydatid disease in livestock. Not only did it actively use the world's first and only sheep echinococcosis vaccine to immunize newborn lambs, but at the same time, 116200 dog deworming sessions were carried out in the whole region, and all 0.905 tons of diseased animals and animal products detected were treated harmlessly. It also stepped up the publicity of echinococcosis prevention and control, printed 540800 Tibetan-Chinese bilingual echinococcosis prevention and control leaflets, and translated the Tibetan language domestic animal echinococcococcococcosis prevention and control film "Gersicosis.

In order to further improve the prevention and control of echinococcosis in the whole region, during the meeting, the participants visited and studied the three-level livestock echinococcosis prevention and control exhibition boards and physical displays in the autonomous region, Shannan City, and Qusong County. The actual operation demonstration of livestock echinococcosis prevention and control measures such as harmless treatment of disease organs and control of rats and pests around the village was demonstrated to farmers and herdsmen.

The directors of the agriculture and animal husbandry bureaus of each city (prefecture) also summarized and exchanged views on the prevention and control of echinococcosis in the early stage. Everyone is determined to make persistent efforts and earnestly follow the deployment of the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry: adhere to the principle of "prevention first, both symptoms and root causes, comprehensive management, joint prevention and control", and earnestly implement the comprehensive prevention and control strategy focusing on the control of infectious sources. "Three major systems", the implementation of "seven major measures", solidly promote the smooth development of livestock hydatidosis prevention and control, and effectively guarantee the healthy and rapid development of animal husbandry in various regions.
